commedia dell’arte
-
photos and videos by indie studios
For this Ladygunn Magazine menswear editorial, Indie Studios was inspired by the whimsical world of “Commedia dell’arte”. Literally translated to “comedy of artists”, these Italian theatre shows which began in the1400s, featured improv actors wearing elaborate costumes & masks, which inhibited their ability to preform. The actors resorted to over-the-top gestures and accents to communicate their plots to audiences. Out of this affected style of performance, modern day clowns were born.

infinite coles
-
video by indie studios
Featured in issue No. 22 of Ladygunn Magazine, the video and corresponding photoshoot stars mega-talented singer / songwriter Infinite Coles.
Infinite is the son of Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan.
The inspiration for this collaboration between Infinite and Indie Studios was our shared interest in creating a safe space in fashion and art to explore and redefine gender norms, and to discuss difficult issues like homelessness.
Infinite's personal journey to find acceptance, love and a safe space to call home motivated him to write his new EP which includes the original song, Round.
Cole’s sexually-charged performance recontextualizes the experience of homelessness and challenges the stereotypes of gender and beauty.
